About BSCN(PB) Programme: Every Year, The open learning university offers admission to various distance education learning programs. Out of which, one name is BSCN(PB) (Post Basic B.Sc Nursing) during the January session. This discipline is offered under the School of Health Sciences(SOHS).
This discipline has been approved by the Indian Nursing Council(INC) and the minimum duration of the program is of 3 Years. However, the maximum period is of 5 years. It is a 3 years degree program for in-service diploma holder nurses.
The top distance university conducted the OpenNet-VII entrance test for admission to this program every year in the month of August – September. The date of the entrance test is 24th September 2017. The OpenNet-VII Application form is available online at the online portal.
The university invited applications from eligible and interested students to take admission in BSCN(PB) course by publishing an advertisement in local newspapers and BSCN(PB) Prospectus for January 2021 on the university website. It is available in English medium only. The Application Form, Student Handbook and Guide for Applicants for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Admission (BSCN(PB)) is available online.

IGNOU BSCN(PB) Entrance Exam, IGNOU OPENNET-VII Application Form
The objective of the BSCN(PB) Programme: The Post Basic B.Sc Nursing degree program is launched, at the request of the Indian Nursing Council (INC). It is prepared as the current pace of providing higher education to working nurses is very slow due to the shortage of Colleges of Nursing and the paucity of seats available in each.
As per the New National Policy of Education due to coronavirus, the emphasis is on the need for making higher education available within the reach of all. The development of this discipline has been undertaken with the involvement of nursing experts, scientists, and educationists from related disciplines all over the country. The main aim is to motivate nurses to maintain clinical competence to provide quality care. Below are details of the BSCN(PB) Programme :
- Program Name: BSCN(PB) – Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
- Medium of Instruction: English medium
- Duration: The minimum duration is of 3 years and the maximum period allowed for completion of the program is of 5 years after which applicants have to apply for re-admission by paying your required fee for each incomplete course of theory and practical components
- Age Bar: No maximum age limit
- Fee Details: All candidates taking admission to this course need to pay the total fee of Rs 45000/- which has to be paid @ Rs 15,000/- per annum. Candidates who want to take admission to the BSCN(PB) program are advised not to pay the fee along with the filled-in application form. They will get a separate communication about their admission and payment of the fee. The program fee should be paid only by Demand Draft drawn in the favour of IGNOU. On the back of Demand Draft(DD), Please write your name, address, and telephone number to ensure proper credit to your account.
- Eligibility Details: To be eligible for BSCN(PB) course, a) The In-service Nurses i.e registered nurses and registered midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 2 years experience in the profession. (For males nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM program should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery) OR
In-service Nurses (RNRM) having 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with 3-year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 5 years experience in the profession. (For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM program should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).
- Number of Seats: The number of seats as approved by INC for admission to BSCN(PB) varies from PSC to PSC. So, we advised students to check the latest BSCN(PB) prospectus.
IGNOU BSCN(PB) Admission Procedure: Every year, the top distance university invited applications from eligible applicants to apply for admission to BSCN(PB) (Post Basic B.Sc Nursing) 2021. The admission will be made once a year for in-service nurses. Applicants can download the IGNOU OpenNet-VII Application Form and BSCN(PB) prospectus by visiting the online portal. The students can also obtain the PBBSCN Prospectus 2021 from their nearest Regional Centre by paying a fee of Rs 1000/-.
The prospectus can also be ordered by Registered Post by sending a fee of Rs. 1050/- in the form of Demand Draft(DD) which is to be made in the favor of IGNOU, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68. Do not forget to write your name and address at the back of DD(Demand Draft).
The Admission for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programme for January 2021 session will be done region-wise on the basis of merit/marks obtained in the common entrance test. Applicants from any Region/State can apply as per their choice through any Regional Centre/s where PSCs for Post Basic BSc Nursing Programme is established.

IGNOU BSCN(PB) Entrance Test Result: Applicants who want to take admission to BSCN(PB), needs to apply/ submit their OpenNet-VII entrance test form to the Regional Centre from where the candidates wish to pursue the Programme. The Entrance test will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions (bearing one mark each) drawn from various subjects taught in GNM.
